Liu Bao Hei Cha: Aged Earth and Camphor. As one of the most distinguished dark teas (Hei Cha) from Guangxi Province, Liu Bao is celebrated for its unique aging process, often spending years maturing in traditional woven bamboo baskets. This maturation contributes to its signature deep, earthy flavour and smooth, soothing character, making it a favourite among connoisseurs of aged teas.

Flavour Profile & Traditional Charm
Liu Bao offers a rich, complex, and profound sensory experience:

  • Aroma: Distinctly earthy (wet soil), aged wood, and subtle notes of camphor.
  • Taste: Incredibly smooth, mellow, and thick (viscous), with a deep, dark sweetness and a long, cooling finish. The infusion is a clear, dark amber to red-brown.
  • Appearance: Compressed, thick, dark-brown leaves often left in loose chunks or fragments.
  • Origin: Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China.

A Timeless Gift of Wellness
In Chinese tradition, aged dark teas like Liu Bao are highly valued for their perceived health benefits, particularly for digestion and warmth. Gifting Liu Bao for the New Year symbolizes longevity, good health, and stable prosperity. Its traditional presentation in bamboo packaging adds a rustic, classic charm perfect for the holidays.

Brewing Guidelines
Use boiling water (212°F / 100°C). Liu Bao is best brewed using the Gongfu method with multiple, short infusions (rinsing the leaves once is recommended). This tea is exceptionally durable and capable of producing 10–15 satisfyingly complex infusions.
