Emerald Spirals of Spring: Delight in Biluochun. Dongting Biluochun is one of China's Ten Famous Teas, celebrated for its delicate, tightly curled spiral shape and potent, captivating floral-fruity aroma. Harvested from the slopes of Dongting Mountain near Lake Tai, this green tea delivers an incredibly fresh, sweet, and complex flavour profile, symbolizing rejuvenation and purity for the New Year.
Flavour Profile & Uniqueness
This exquisite tea is known for its high concentration of silver tips and unique processing:
- Aroma: Intense floral and light fruity notes (often compared to gardenia and peach).
- Taste: Exceptionally smooth, sweet, and refreshing, with a clean finish.
- Appearance: Tightly curled "snail shells" covered in fine silver down (pekoe).
- Origin: Dongting Mountain, Jiangsu Province, China.
A Subtle Gift of Freshness for the Holidays
Unlike the bold reds and golds, Biluochun offers a refined New Year's statement. Gifting this tea symbolizes wishes for a fresh, healthy, and fragrant start to the year. Its delicate nature makes it a perfect pairing for lighter holiday treats and morning reflection.
Brewing Guidelines
To protect its delicate flavour, use soft water that has cooled significantly (170–175°F / 75–80°C). It is traditionally best viewed when steeped in a tall glass, watching the spirals unfurl and sink. Steep for 1–3 minutes. The tea yields 3–4 exquisite infusions.
